At Mushens Entertainment, we are constantly looking for new authors. Our agents read and respond to every submission whether it is from a debut, established or self-published author. We love reading the stories you create.
To help us get to your submission, please follow our guidelines below.

I’m looking for… crime, thrillers, fantasy, dark academia, horror, book club fiction, tragic love stories and anything high-concept regardless of genre.

I’m looking for… literary and upmarket fiction, speculative fiction, horror, magical realism and reimaginings of myths, fairy tales, and folklore, cultural criticism, narrative nonfiction, big-idea nonfiction and select cookbooks and food writing.

No Mushens Entertainment agent will ever ask for money from prospective clients or charge a reading fee.
For all submissions
We are not open to picture books, middle-grade, children’s fiction younger than teen, individual short stories, eroticas, poetry, screenplays, or comics/graphic novels.
You can read our individual agent profiles here (Juliet, Rachel and Maria) to decide who would be the best fit for your work. Please note that only Maria represents novellas and short story collections.

We only accept email submissions. If you send us anything via post, do not expect a return.
For fiction submissions
Please only submit your work if your manuscript is complete at the time of submission.

A clear subject line eg. Fiction Submission: TITLE OF YOUR WORK
Addressed to the specific agent you would like to consider it
Your cover letter in the body of the email
An attachment of your synopsis
A PDF or Word document of your novel containing either:
The first three chapters
The first 10-15,000 words
First 50 pages

For non-fiction submissions
Non-fiction titles are often sold on proposal, so your book does not need to be complete at the time of submission, but you will need a completed proposal and some sample writing. If you have completed your manuscript, please attach the first section of your manuscript in lieu of a proposal.

For short story collections submissions
Please only submit your work if your manuscript is complete at the time of submission. Only Maria accepts submissions of short story collections.

Genre: We accept primarily literary fiction, collections with elements of magical realism, or speculative
We accept collections composed of previously published and/or unpublished stories. However, the collection as a whole must not have been previously published
For novellas submissions
Please only submit your work if your manuscript is complete at the time of submission. Only Maria accepts submissions of novellas.

Your cover letter in the body of the email
An attachment of your synopsis
Genre: Primarily literary fiction, elements of speculative, or contemporary fiction
Length: Between 17,000 and 40,000 words
Original Work Only: The manuscript must be unpublished in book form and be your own original work.
You will receive an automated response informing you that we have received your work. We aim to respond to submissions within 4-6 weeks, although in busy periods this can be longer. Owing to time constraints we cannot offer personalised feedback on all projects. Please let us know if another agency requests your full manuscript or offers representation.
